I don’t Know if she is sick or something but her live performance are lackluster in my opinion. I won’t attend a rihanna concert soon. I don’t even finish the stream i was bored 20min into it. I’m gonna stick to the albums because she had really good music but failed to delivered them live.
Watching a stream and seeing someone live is a little different. In my opinion Rihanna sounds a lot better live compared to her live streams and especially her televised performances. To add, you’re not going to get Beyoncé, Ciara or any other female artist at a Rihanna concert. Every artist is different. I feel we try an hold every black female artist to the standard of Beyoncé. I love the down to earth, real vibe you get from Rihanna at her shows.
Don’t get me wrong i realy enjoyed her previous era aka GGGB and Loud. I don’t even compare her to Beyoncé it’s just a feeling that i have whatching her live perfromances from this era. Yes she have fun but she used to be more into her performance.

Yo Rihanna is like the living, female Kanye West. No, she doesn’t open up with some elaborate, vegas style spectacle with 10,000 back-up dancers. Rather, she gives you a rockstar performance reminiscent of Janice Joplin. Her swag coupled with her attitude and charisma creates a memorable show. Plus, her aesthetic is so simple yet so intricate at the same time. I love when the suds come down and she’s singing the last few pumps of blood her heart can give out.
Ok, I love Rihanna and all but Janis Joplin, no, just no, Rockstars don’t just stand there, they play instruments most of the time, in fact is actually rare to see a Rocker without his guitar, even the females, so stop trying to put Rihanna in a Rock category performer, as an excuse for her lack of abilities as a Pop performer, it’s actually very offensive to Rock performers who are among the greatest, Mercury, Bowie, Joplin, Turner, etc….Also, as much of a so-so performer that Riri is, it is also an insult to compare such an awful performer like Kanye to her, she is light years ahead of him when it comes to perform.

Sure Rihanna doesn’t play an instrument, but I don’t believe that an instrument is what defines a rockstar especially in the twenty-first century as we’ve transitioned into the digital age. A rock star is an artist who’s expression isn’t sequestered by any limitations. As I’m sure you’ll disagree, any live showing will present that Kanye West is also a rockstar as he doesn’t conform to any specific style except for himself. Similar to him, Rihanna does the exact same thing. Furthermore, this past Sunday proves that if Rihanna wanted to, she could have glossy, elaborate set designs with a multitude of dancers like a leading pop act if she wanted to; however, she specifically chooses not to. Many people love to relegate her to a pop act solely because she’s a female; where in reality, she’s an artist who transcends any traditional genre or medium who happens to sing some pop songs.

Never have I ever critiqued Beyonce’s performing. I have always stated that she is a performing beast and the standard for the music industry, and I am happy that such performing standard is held by a black artist. Now, I critique Beyonce on her music, you know the stuff that actually matters. Not only is she artistically lost, she’s hopping on any every trend in hopes of garnering a hit. Whether it be hopping on tracks for Kendrick, Frank Ocean, Coldplay or whatever trendy artist of the moment, she’s looking for social relevance. Honestly, I loved the performance, but I’m more than just a fan enough to say that I seriously need for her to watch her words sometimes. During her “Rude Boy” performance, she told a guy in the audience “you ain’t big enough, n****!” and after that I was so completely upset and hurt. I understand that she has to live up to the Good Girl Gone Bad image and reputation, but that was completely unnecessary. I just need her to tone down her words for the sake of her fans.
