Beyonce and Rihanna aren’t the only chart titans hoping to dominate 2016 with new releases.

For, a silent sales battle brews between Bruno Mars and The Weeknd.

Facts and figures below…

Mars’ new album ‘24K Magic’ drops on November 18th 2016.

One week later, The Weeknd‘s ‘StarBoy’ will make its way to the world on the 25th.

However, not even the weeks that separate both artists from their release dates could stop the Pop princes from clashing on Pre-Order Boulevard.

For, Weeknd’s ‘Boy’ has been available to pre-order for one month and has sold 29,000 copies during that time.

Meanwhile, Mars’ ’24K Magic’ LP was pre-ordered 15,000 times within the first week it was made available for purchase, potentially spelling “magical” trouble for ‘The Hills‘ vocalist should he continue to fare just as well in the coming weeks.

Industry insiders expect their war to reach new heights when both sets make their way to digital and physical retailers next month.

you know, considering the media and us thirsty idiots always pit girls against one another, I love seeing it done to the boys for a change.
I like 24k magic the single but I’m #TeamStarboy all the way.

Bruno will be number 1 for his 1st 2 weeks “bookmark me” Weekend should’ve pushed his album forward or done a “beyonce” his single would’ve carried the album. I hope Addelphant re-release’s 25 and snatches both of their wigs.

This is great for pop. I am here for our guys doing their thing. Im #tembruno but will be supporting both by streaming their albums if they make it available on spotify

    • Onyourwrostday October 25, 2016

      Bruno is making r&b soul

  3. XYZ October 25, 2016

    Team weeknd.

Never Got the point of pitting artists against each. As if their was only room for one

    • XYZ October 25, 2016

      There

    • LmfaoHoe October 25, 2016

True but they been doing this since MJ and Prince.

  4. Sean October 25, 2016

Not really a huge Weeknd fan #Team24K all they way!!!

  5. #JACKIE October 25, 2016

Bruno will probably outsell The WEAKnd per usual.??

    • Sebastian October 25, 2016

I wouldn’t expect a Ciara fan to follow the charts but that isn’t happening in any

  6. Dem Lessers October 25, 2016

The Weekend is more unique and willing to evolve his sound, that other guy is just an overrated MJ tribute act. #TeamStarboy

    • Dem Lessers October 25, 2016

      Weeknd*

    • SMH October 25, 2016

That would explain why Bruno outsells that other guy with such ease.

      • Sebastian October 25, 2016

        (?) who is he outselling

    • BEY>RIH October 25, 2016

Lmaoo, the Weeknd sounds way more like a MJ copycat than Bruno.

If this were pre-2013 then, perhaps, ‘Bruno Mars’ would have outsold ‘The Weeknd’ altogether however we are now in the streaming era and ‘The Weeknd’ is a far greater streaming force so the latter will outsell the former in SPS without a doubt.
    .

Overall, both their first week sales will be frontloaded but it’s all about longevity in today’s dreadful sales climate and industry (and it’s on that basis alone why you can’t compare the sales of ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ (2012) and the sales of ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’ (2015) thus it’ll definitely be a matter of how their succeeding singles will perform and the level of promotion each album gets.

    .

‘Bruno Mars’ may have the edge in pure sales but ‘The Weeknd’s’ TEA & SEA output will be much higher in the end.

    • BEY>RIH October 25, 2016

Weren’t Uptown Funk’s streams huge though? I thought Bruno was a bigger streaming force than the Weeknd.

All I know is I am a little bit disappointed in Bruno´s new songs. Look at that pic alone. Why showing all that money? He´s not a silly raper. He´s so talented but I was underwhelmed for the first time with him with this song. I´m not familiar with the Weekend so i cannot give an opinion. Seems like Bruno is so much bigger on all fronts. Grammy recognition and all included.

    • IStan4Rihanna. (Bajan Beauty) October 25, 2016

      “24K Magic” deserves to flop.

      .

Mars is much more talented than that travesty of a song he decided to release. If he truly is trying to navigate into the terrain of ‘urban music’ then that is understandable but there areally specific ways to do it and the aesthetic he is currently undertaking just isn’t doing him any favours.

      .

“Uptown Funk” was a fantastic throwback track and, musically speaking, he has always been ‘retro’ but what I want from him is Funk-Rock & Soul inspired Reggae-Pop music, the sound that made him unique, not 90s-oriented Hip-Hop/R&B music with a faux “gangster”/Hip-Hop image.

      • JOHNVIDAL October 25, 2016

        I agree.

  9. iSpeakTruthNoFallacy October 25, 2016

Bruno has the better video, but his Uptown Funk 2.0 isn’t fairing too well compared to the original. The Weeknd on the other hand made Kanye’s Stronger 2.0. As I LOVE both of these boys, I’m not too excited about either first singles as they both have preceding work that I love so much more. I guess I’m #TeamStarboy

  10. SMH October 25, 2016

It’s clearly obvious that Bruno is the bigger star and will come out on top.

    • Sebastian October 25, 2016

      Abel is bigger in 2016

  11. Abel Minaj October 25, 2016

#Team Weeknd all the way, never cared for Bruno but this will be fun for a change

  12. Bish in Africa October 25, 2016

They pitting boys against one another now? Thought this use to be a ‘girl’ thing

    • Mark111 October 25, 2016

      MJ V Prince
      Usher V Timberlake
      Nsync V Backstreet Boys
      Justin Bieber V One Direction
      Drake V Kendrick V J Cole
      Tupac V Biggie
      Jay Z V Nas
      .
Where have you been in the past 30 years? Anyone will be compared when they operate in the same space.

      • Sebastian October 25, 2016

we call tell the winners of each

  13. #Nicole Nation October 25, 2016

    #team Bruno!

Bruno has a much stronger voice.

  14. #Nicole Nation October 25, 2016

    Both should be decent though.

  15. Bwash October 25, 2016

not a fan of either song to be honest.

  16. Metzo October 25, 2016

    Star boy >

  17. Molly October 25, 2016

    Starboy slays 24k

  18. Theman October 25, 2016

Album sales are far more potent than streaming. You actually purchase those. They’ll both do great. It’s great to have artists that will actually move units..

  19. kwinzy October 25, 2016

I’m rooting for both though I gotta admit 24K Magic is already played out. Then again, I’m not really digging False Alarm either unless I’m watching the video so it’s even.

  20. Mark111 October 25, 2016

Always said that the Weak End was the middle child of Drake and Bruno. Did someone say that Mars is a MJ tribute act? That’s the biggest form of irony i ever seen, seeing that Weak End totally changed his sound to MJ karaoke. Both singles are weak imo, but we all know that Bruno is the better artist, writer, singer, performer and so on. The other thing can’t write a song without using the F word.

  21. Sebastian October 25, 2016

    woah king Abel ended Bruno

    • BEY>RIH October 25, 2016

In what world? Uptown Funk is literally one of the biggest songs of all time and it was released less than 2 years ago.

  22. #Nicole Nation October 25, 2016

    24Slay Magic >>> Starboy >>>>>>>>> False Alarm

  23. Mo October 25, 2016

    They’re both annoying af

  24. Sherrele October 25, 2016

    I love Bruno Mars

  25. Cough Cough October 25, 2016

The Weekend is like a more wining, nasel, generic version of The Dream. Bruno has flare and raw talent that translates in and out of the studio.

  26. @ASAPicon October 25, 2016

    Team Bruno anyday!
