Published: Sunday 23rd Apr 2017 by David

Despite efforts to push pill-popping soul numbing party purveyors to the masses, the music industry continues to soar highest when it backs acts who offer real stories and substance.

Today, it is reminded of this fact with the news of Kendrick Lamar‘s first week sales with his new LP ‘DAMN‘.

With 610,000 units moved in its opening week, the set occupies the top spot on the Billboard 200 and outperforms the 505,000 units Drake moved with ‘More Life’ and breaks Ed Sheeran’s record for the best-selling first week of the year.

Where his numbers sit without streams?

362,000.

This is great news. I have to add though, although Kendrick music is fill with storytelling and substance…that isnt merely the reason he sells. He sells based on his name, and following. Much like all other big sellers. In other words, he can breathe on an album and it will sell big. There are plenty other artist out here makeup big music with substance that still can’t sell 30k. Let’s me honest.

Well superstar status ain’t for everybody, it’s either you got it or you don’t (Kendrick and all the other big sellers got it). That’s just the way it is.

Weird you congratulate him for having a great album but then down play his sales because of his name. He has a great album and it’s worthy of the success. Why point out anything else beside that?
