Normani has been the name on the lips of many as she charges ahead with her solo career.
The Fifth Harmony star is off to a flying start with Khalid collaboration ‘Love Lies’ – which has been performing awesomely on radio and streaming platforms.
In the track’s accompanying video, the budding diva can be seen serving all sorts of sass. And in a new interview, she reveals that she had a number of notable women in mind when executing her moves.
Her words below…
Speaking to VEVO, the 21-year-old revealed she had one day to rehearse with choreographer Sean Bankhead before the shoot. Explaining her inspirations, she said:
“We were inspired by strong female solo performances in music videos: a mix between Mya‘s ‘My Love Is Like…Wo’ and Janet Jackson‘s ‘The Pleasure Principle’ – with the sex appeal of Beyonce, of course.”
As reported, Normani’s debut album is reportedly due via RCA later this year.

I can see her being marketed as this generation “Beyoncé” and it’s not a bad idea. She definitely has the showmanship and skills but will definitely need a vocal coach and pre recorded tracks. I say work with Parkwood as well, RCA will put the music out but Parkwood has better marketing skills and the great minds took back up a promising new black girl.
She’s gotta lose some more flesh amp up the s** appeal and bleach up if she really wants to be “this generation Beyoncé”

This girl has potential and although her live vocals aren’t the strongest, her studio voice is refreshing and the tone is different than what’s out. Also, her dark skin has a advantage. With Wankanda being forever and African culture being popular man.. she can f*** it up!
