New Video: Ashanti – ‘Say Less (ft. Ty Dolla $ign)’

Published: Saturday 7th Apr 2018 by Sam

“Better late than never” seems to be Ashanti‘s m-o. Because five whole months after releasing single ‘Say Less’ featuring Ty Dolla $ign, the singer has unwrapped its accompanying video.

Directed by LT Hutton, the visual sees the former Murder INC front-woman take on the rumor peddlers in fun-filled fashion.

Over the course of the clip, she playfully showcases the blurred lines between fact and fiction.

Watch below…

Bravo!

Ashanti was reared in an era where music videos were creative and engaging – two traits this clip possesses.

Our sole gripe continues to be with her roll-outs.

Dropping a song in November and dropping a video in April boggles the mind.

The era of moves like that is long gone. These days there has to be a plan and very little gap-age in the deployment of said plan. If the strategy wasn’t in place last year, why drop the song at that time?

In any case, here’s hoping Ms. Douglas has mapped out all her moves from henceforth.

The song, while not ‘Thriller,’ does have summer appeal and has chart potential if pushed.

A mess. Sis you way too ole for this. Class it up and Leave this for the kids. This style of music and image is not anymore. If you ain’t doing something to motivate or push the culture, don’t make music please.

Y’all say that but beyonce shakes her ass and she not getting younger either and when she does it it’s “yaaas grown women can be s*** too”

Beyonce actually has talent, Ashanti doesn’t! Ashanti has never been a good performer. So the two aren’t even comparable. They aren’t even on the same level.

Ashanti has talent too and way more sexier than Beyonce so hush, atleast Ashanti writes her own music ?

      • Meme April 7, 2018

I’m not a Beyonce fan but here’s the thing…Beyonce can shake her asz all she want because she raises the bar when it comes to being a performer and a vocalist, Ashanti is neither. I don’t always agree with Beyoncé’s music direction but she def does a lot for the culture and for black women in music in general.

…checks Ashanti’s songwriter credits… something beyonce’ can’t do without settling those pesky lawsuits

Actually Ashanti can sing and does it very well she might not be the best performer but she’s a really great artist and stop with the Ashanti can’t touch Beyonce crap I like both but I do remember Ashanti selling more back in the day when it was Ashanti vs Beyonce Ashanti had won that battle which is why she still gets some respect today her career went down because of the Murder i.n.c situation she wasn’t even able to release music for a few years her down fall was not her fault or because of any other female performer

First lemme say, I love Ashanti. I really enjoyed her first and second albums and her Declaration album. But this I can’t get with. The DJ Mustard sound has come and gone. Ty Dolla Sign is blahhhh… always has been. It seems like she’s trying to chase a trend or something, even with the wardrobe choices. Some of the outfits seemed awkward. Maybe it’s just me, but I miss the regular Ashanti from the Happy video or Foolish video that seemed like a down to earth NY girl that made R&B music. I’d really like to see her connect with some more NY talent bc the West Coast sound is a NO. I know she’s promoting Ciroc, but the whole image just screams “club chick” and that’s just so common these days. I know she’s better than that. 🙁

I’m starting to think tgj is a champion for flops.
From the articles to the comments.
No one is checking for Ashanti besides her 4 Stan’s. This is why we can’t have new artist come on the scene and get support they need. People keep holding on to flops that’s been done for over a decade, especially blogs and social media.

It’s cool glad to see her back in music, but yea nothing compares to her old music ?, but she’s still gorgeous as ever ?

I guess people forgot Ashanti was breaking records as a solo artist when she first came out, now don’t get me wrong I love Beyoncé as well but don’t come for Ashanti, cause she has broken records before and at the time it was even Ashanti vs Beyonce back in the day. So shut up and kiss me ?

You’ve been making me c.u.m for years. Glad to have you back on here.

and Ashanti wrote all of her songs… Beyonce is talented, but her music lacks the personal touch of a singer/songrwriter… Beyonce can sing the phone book and sound great, but the problem with a lot of her music is the lack of conviction behind the lyrics.

        Glad I could help ??

Your eyes and lips make me just explode Kerry!!!

Cute video. Love how she poked fun at the stripper incident.

Ashanti needs to sign a deal and stop ruining her career and wasting her money on this independent $h*t . All of her independent projects have flopped , she needs a machine behind her, one to tell her that releasing a video 5months after dropping a song is STUPID . I liked the song when it came out , now I’m over it , I’ve taken it off my playlist ??‍♂️ It seems like common sense to have your single/video treatments planned for rollout . Sadly whilst this is probably the best looking video of her ‘independent’ career , it’s too late.com .
My final erk – comes from the fact she’s also set herself up for people to mock her relevance – by dramatising it … nobody checking for her like that no more ??‍♂️
