Eminem‘s endurance shows no sign of evaporating.
The rapper made headlines the world over when he surprise released his 10th studio album ‘Kamikaze’ on August 31st and the set has been flying off shelves at a feverish rate ever since.
Over the course of its opening week, the project’s sales forecasts were revised up – and then up again – as excitement about the album spread.
So, where did it ultimately end up on the Billboard 200? At #1 and the numbers await below…
With the final figures tallied up, Billboard report that ‘Kamikaze’ shifted a colossal 434,000 SPS equivalent units, 252,000 of said number were via pure sales.
Slim Shady’s latest triumph comes amidst early streaming success of focus single ‘Fall’ and fan-favorite ‘Lucky You.’
Beyond the LP’s unannounced arrival, folk were shocked about its close proximity to the release of ‘Revival’ album – which dropped just 9 months earlier.
Though a launching to a decent start, sales of the guest-heavy set (which featured the likes of Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, and Kehlani) paled in comparison to Em’s prior offerings. Opening numbers were 267,000.
Critically too, it fell short of the acclaim the rapper had become accustomed to.
With ‘Kamikaze,’ however, it looks as though Marshall Mathers has experienced a true revival – numerically and qualitatively.
