With ‘thank u, next’ finally loosening its grip on the Hot 100’s summit and its follow-up, ‘Imagine,’ failing to live up to the hype of its predecessor, Ariana Grande‘s already eyeing what’s next.
Enter: ‘7 Rings.’
As its coming was revealed in the most recent behind-the-scenes look at the epic ‘thank u, next’ video (like we reported here), Grande later took to Twitter to discuss its inspiration.
“Well …………. ‘twas a pretty rough day in nyc. my friends took me to tiffany’s. we had too much champagne. i bought us all rings. — it was very insane and funny. & on the way back to the stu njomza was like ‘bitch, this gotta be a song lol’. so we wrote it that afternoon,” Grande tweeted.
We’ll find out what the diva cooked up when the song makes its official premiere on January 18th. Like ‘next,’ ‘Rings’ is one of many gems set to line the singer’s 5th studio album, due later this year.

Did you learn about Semiology in your school?? I would look it up boo, because it’s about an image being a symbol for something. Her upside down album cover was because her world was turned upside down and had severe anxiety…. she even said as much so…. not so much “doing stuff” and more carefully constructed art imitating life ?

@Haterz ? I know what the upside down pictures meant sis, but the meaning was irrelevant to the point of MY comment and you seem to think that telling me that bit of info somehow changes anything? I assure you, It does not. It was one item on a list of dumb things she does. A list that you ignored. In fact my whole point was that the “symbols” she chooses to use to represent herself (whatever that may be and regardless of what they mean), in an effort to be artistic or iconic or aesthetically sensible etc., are always basic, artless, and juvenile.

Poor Promotion. Sweetner is actually a good album. Let’s IGNORE “BREATHIN” for the great single it is and keep putting out C+ material. LET’s IGNORE “BREATHIN” as the best single she has ever done and continue to NOT promote the New ALBUM by releasing MATERIAL that has NOTHING to do with the ALBUM. DUMB
Despite the fact Sweener was a good album it underperformed and this is a distraction tactic to keep the kids happy and throwing coins until we are onto the next. Nothing else on Sweetner will garner Top 5 status so they’re paying it dust now. Hell, as good as Breathing is, it didn’t slay the charts and thankyou next so the experiment with non trash tracks has concluded.
I’m a fan but I honestly think sweetner was her weakest effort and breathing isn’t that great. Its about 4 other songs I feel like she should have promoted other than breathing.
