New Video: Monica – ‘Commitment’

Published: Tuesday 16th Apr 2019 by Sam

Monica is a woman not to be messed with in the video for new single ‘Commitment.’

Fed up with the philandering ways of her partner, she takes matters into her own hands. Literally.

The clip (which was directed by Teyana Taylor and features a cameo from Tiny) is the first to be issued from Monica’s new studio album ‘Chapter 38.’ Tonally, in light of recent changes in her personal life, its timing is interesting to say the least.

In any case, check out new Monica after the jump…

Simple, yet effective.

Monica is now pressing on as an indie act and has garnered solid traction on the Urban A/C format with this jam.

With the arrival of its video, it’s steady ascend ought to continue. We’d love to see her on the live circuit too.

All in all, great to have her…back.

Monica is a solid vocal, those first 3 albums were great material and vocals then she lost her passion. They call brandy the vocal bible??? How? When? This girl is the better singer.

Why do yall always bring up Brandy on Monica posts and vice versa? Is it 1999?

    • Interac April 16, 2019

‘Still standing’ really began to showcase her stunning vibrato and amazing breath control. Monica can hold a note for damn near 30 seconds lol.

Love Monica and the song, but the video is whack if we’re being honest.

Love the song. But the video is a big no. I understand a scene or two but the entire video in same spot. Teyanna dropped the ball on this one

  12. Paulo April 16, 2019

Teyana get your own s*** together before you try and eff up my Monica’s video again! The plot literally went nowhere

  13. Kaye April 16, 2019

the song is cute but the video is very meh , like it was shot in 5 minutes , doesnt compliment the song at all !

She should’ve slept with the police officer. He looked like he could commit.

Nice song, plain video. Not feeling Monica’s hair choice or look here. If they were going to do a jail theme, I would have had the ladies decked out in cute jail uniforms made more feminine & would have had them doing a nice dance routine on the jail courtyard or cafeteria or something with in & outs showing her with her boo & how he cheated or when they were together & things were good. Video didn’t match the words

this is the obvious difference between a singer and an artist.. monica is a good singer but has never possessed creative artistry….the 90’s had video directors skilled specifically in their crafts, who helped bring her songs to life, but she’s clearly struggling with that at this point in her career
