She’s Coming! Brandy Signals Return With ‘Freedom Rings’ Tease

Published: Tuesday 24th Sep 2019 by Sam

Brandy has been baking new material and it looks as though she may finally be ready to serve.

It’s been seven years since the Vocal Bible released her last studio album and the time between has seen her experience a number of roller-coasters.

Recently, she EXCLUSIVELY told That Grape Juice that she’ll be chronicling all on her upcoming record; a record she confirms is coming this year.

Now, it appears it’s all systems go!

Details below…

Moments ago on Instagram, B-Rocka shared the shot above where bears the title ‘Freedom Rings’:

Exciting times!

Having experienced a pronounced period where a legal wrangle made releasing new music impossible, the title is notable on many fronts.

Notice it says “25th anniversary”. Seems like she is either teasing new music again or just putting out a new single to go with a re-release of her debut album.

It is either her new album or new music this Friday. Her first album was released on September 27th 1994 so I think she will drop something that same date. Let’s hope!

A “surprise” release? I doubt it, especially coming from her because she likes posting teasers and needs promo. I suspect a new single and a re-release of her album

It says #be7 though on her page which means it’s her seventh album coming.

I love Brandy, but I don’t have high hopes for this because:

    1) An inordinate amount of time has passed since Two Eleven was released

    2) She’s independent. (Like Fantasia, I unfortunately don’t think the independent route is for everyone.)

Wishing B-rocka well though. I will be listening and hoping the album slays.

All she does is tease s***. It’s been 7 years since her last efforts I’ll believe it when I see it….

It is frustrating. I’m not holding my breath but she kinda sorta confirmed something for once so that should count for something.

    Vocal bible my àss

Remember when whitney yelled at her “WHY ARE YOU DOWN THERE” because of her poor vocals. ????????

    • Nicky September 24, 2019

And you stan Camicky Who sounds like a dying cat.

      The jokes write themselves ???????

      Stop embarrassing yourself

Brandy, unlike Camicky, is lauded across the industry for her runs, rifts, vocal tone, and range

    • Cort September 24, 2019

THEE Whitney Houston wouldn’t have handpicked Brandy to be Cinderella if she thought her vocals were poor. Brandy is conformation in the alto vocal range and Whitney wanted her to sing soprano. You tried that

    • Jodecie September 24, 2019

She didn’t say that to say she has poor vocals , stop thinking so simple . She simply just wanted her in a higher range , Brandy always admits she doesn’t use her higher range often .

Hmmm, this could be interesting. The pic has a little graphic that says “25th anniversary”, which does line up with when her self-titled album came out, so maybe this is going to be a celebration of that.
Personally, I want her to go back to working with Rodney Jerkins, as to this day “Full Moon” still sounds fresh and new, even though it came out like 18 years ago. I know she probably won’t go back to working with him, but I can dream, right!?

    • Cort September 24, 2019

She worked with him on the Human album. She enjoys working with fresh and underground producers now. She was recently in the studio with Pharrell and Timbaland though.

      • Late September 24, 2019

You’re right, they did work together on “Human”. I always forget about that album. I vaguely remember they had a falling out around that time though.
While I appreciate wanting to venture out to work with different people, I still feel like you can keep a core group of producers around you for each project, which will still allow your sound to grow and evolve, but still have something for your OG fans.
Perfect example of this is Missy Elliott. She’s synonymous with working alongside Timbaland, and they’ve made some amazing art together Specifically when “The Cookbook” came out, I remember noticing that she was introducing other producers like Scott Storch, Neptunes and Rich Harrison into the mix, while still working with Tim. This showed an evolution without alienating her core fan base.
If Brandy worked with Darkchild to recapture some of that magic while still helping out new talent, it’d be the best of both worlds.
