Taylor and  Janet Mock will be honoured for the part they play in the LGBTQ’s global story at the GLAAD Media Awards which are to take place on April 16th in Beverly Hills.

GLAAD explained why in this spirited statement….

From boldly standing up against anti-LGBTQ elected officials to shining attention on the urgent need to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination through the Equality Act, Taylor Swift proudly uses her unique ability to influence pop culture to promote LGBTQ acceptance. In a time of political and cultural division, Taylor creates music that unites and calls on her massive fan following to speak up and call for change.

Her single ‘You Need to Calm Down’ was used to condemn anti LGBT hate groups and featured a party of stars she enlisted to take a stand against homophobia and social injustice.

On Janet…

Janet Mock is a trailblazing force for diverse and inclusive storytelling who has raised the bar for LGBTQ representation in Hollywood. She tells stories that need to be told, including those of transgender people and people of color, in revolutionary and eye-opening ways that inspire and enrich. Her passion for inclusive storytelling, combined with her undeniable talents in writing, directing and producing, will continue to create a Hollywood where voices and stories that have been left out of the conversation are placed front and center where they belong.

Previous recipients include Beyonce, Ellen DeGeneres, Wanda Sykes and the Pop prince Troye Sivan.

Taylor didn’t start advocating for the LGBTQ community until June 14, 2019 when “You Need To Calm Down” was released. Tell me why she deserves this award over someone that’s been advocating for years for the LGBTQ community?

This award was clearly PAID FOR

Beyonce and jay z won this award last year and they have never ever done anything for the lgbt community

Beyonce can never ever make a music video or write a song like u need to calm down.

Because she’s a fraud in everything she does. We already know this.

Taylor is no Madonna, Janet, Gaga or Cher when just comes to advocating for gay rights when it was a risk to her career. She might be a ally but she is hi trailblazing advocate when it really mattered
