Seconds ago, a joint statement from dick clark productions and NBC announced an official postponement for the April 29th ceremony – citing the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
No new date for the Kelly Clarkson hosted spectacle has been shared as at writing.
The news comes a day after the iHeartRadio Music Awards was also postponed and amidst delays applied to TV, film, and live entertainment ventures.

A lot of these award shows are canceling their ceremonies due to the v**** but honestly, if these ceremonies were really and truly about the arts, music and artist as they claim (lie), it would be no brainer to continue the ceremony via web/livestream broadcast. Artist accept awards via livestream all the time, Beyoncé has even performed on award shows via livestream. That way you keep the amount of people gathered controlled, artist and labels can be notified before hand of their winning (some will already know due to Payola) and submit “thank you” or live stream them, they can submit behind the scenes footage or interviews and due performances filmed on set/in studio since they can’t perform at the show, the awards show production team can also do BTS of what it take to perform the production of the regular annual show. But these award shows are all about popularity, ticket sales and ratings which is dumb because mainstream and indie artist are straying away, ticket don’t always sell so they higher seat fillers and viewers only watch videos of certain parts of the show, watch on line or records so ratings are on a steady decline.
