Lady Gaga has always been outspoken on matters of injustice and is aptly speaking up in the wake of the shocking death of George Floyd – an unarmed Black man who lost his life during an encounter with police.
As reported, frightening footage saw Floyd beg the officer reprimanding him to ease the grip of his knee – which was positioned on his neck for seven whole minutes.
His plea went unanswered and he subsequently died.
The incident has caused an international outcry, with both protests and rioting occurring.
In the time since, four Minnesota officers have been fired and there are global calls for justice in the form of murder charges.
Now, Gaga is weighing-in. Her words below…
“My heart breaks for George Floyd, his family and for the people in Minneapolis. Murder is murder. Cops are also citizens, the same rules should apply to them. This is absolutely horrific and if the mayor and DA do not step up it sets a poor example for this entire country.
And we all know this is not the first time the country has spoken up about this corrupt and unacceptable activity.”
Why didn’t she say something sooner? Like right after it first happened? Oh, that’s right! She has an album coming out tomorrow!
