1) Perry’s will likely premiere as the week’s top selling new debut
2) the numbers aren’t enough to net her the #1
3) the forecast sum means she’s on-course to open with one-third of what 2017’s ‘Witness’ delivered – which was considered an underperformance in 2017.
To give added push, Perry’s digital store has slashed the price of ‘Smile’ by 40%:

This should be against chart law. Making your music clearance bin prices does not mean people wanted to buy it.

It’s not like it’s her decision anyway, that’s her label. At this point, I don’t think she’s got the same power at the record company to prevent these things from happening.

None of the singles from her new forthcoming SOLO STUDIO album will likely hit number 1 on BB100 either but the album will STILL open at No.1 and STILL scan PLATINUM + and that ladies and gentlemen is longevity and the haterz WILL gag and WILL DEAL 💆🏾♂️🤳🏾

I would say this though, Katy has had an incredible career. She should be very proud of what she has accomplished. Like who gets 5 number 1 singles from 1 album. There comes a time when everything goes down. It happens to every artist. Janet, Whitney, Michael and Mariah all had their flops.
Taylor is an artist. Katy is a product of one producer. Katy did whatever dr Luke told her. The second his artistry disappeared from her credits, her relevancy disappeared. Katy ain’t 💩 without dr Luke. Karma for being a lifelong mean girl.

Taylor is a talented SONGWRITER like Mariah before her. She can genre hop b/c her pen game keeps her fans coming back. Katy was a producers puppet.

This is kind of misleading. Originally the 40% off sale was just for the fan edition then it sold out so they made her entire store 40% off which consists of merch not just her album.
It never sold out. That was a lie from her team to drum up excitement…and clearly it didn’t work.
But she said she didnt care about numbers.

Gaga is so lucky and smart. she reinvented herself with that a star is born movie, won an oscar etc then collaborated with ariana, a main pop girl right now, scoring a huge number 1 song. This sade her album and career.
Katy u should have collaborated with billie eilish or shawn mendez or drake or even post malone. They would have given u a hit and that would have saved your album.

Instead of going for commercial success, she went for critical acclaim. Even tho her last 3 projects didnt hit number 1, they all received universal acclaim , winning Grammys
