Dua Lipa’s ‘Break My Heart’ Now Platinum / ‘Levitating’ Finally Breaks Into Hot 100

Published: Friday 16th Oct 2020 by Rashad

Dua Lipa‘s ‘Levitating’ hasn’t exactly lived up to its namesake on the Hot 100, but its chart trajectory may be set to change.

Though not officially released until August, the tune first gained critical acclaim upon the March premiere of its parent project, ‘Future Nostalgia.’  In the time since, ‘Levitating’ has enjoyed a Madonna, Missy Elliott, and Blessed Madonna remix (found board the deluxe edition of ‘Future Nostalgia’) as well as a revamp from DaBaby.

While the solo and diva-dominated renditions did surprisingly little to push the song up the Hot 100 (as we reported here), the DaBaby assist reinforces the adage ‘third time’s the charm.’

Look inside to see where ‘Levitating’ landed on this week’s Hot 100.

‘Levitating’ – powered primarily by streams, sales, and radio airplay of its DaBaby-enlisted version – made its long-awaited Hot 100 debut this week at #73, giving Dua her fourth concurrent placement on the tally.

Elsewhere on the refreshed chart, the GRAMMY-winner can be found at #85 (J. Balvin‘s ‘Un Dia’), #39 (‘Don’t Start Now’), and #29 (‘Break My Heart’).

Speaking of the latter, the enduring top 40 hit was recently upgraded to Platinum status by the Recording Industry Association of America (denoting U.S. sales equivalence of 1 million units).  It’s the third of this Dua’s singles this era to be certified by the organization as ‘Don’t Start Now’ sits at 3x Platinum and ‘Physical’ is Gold. Levitating (Solo version) deserved to be #1. What a timeless bop🥰😍🥰 I’ve been jamming this song since future nostalgia came out💋💋

The rosie o’ Donald remix was trash! Waste of a Missy Elliott collaboration! Glad to see the Da Baby version getting some steam!

Dua fired that fat c-u-n-t cursed Madonna already. She deleted her phone # and treat her like they never met😂🤣😂🤣 the remix album should’ve gave it to Calvin Harris, Zedd, David, Mark Ronson, David guetta, Diplo or even cash cash 💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿 To me, my honesty, avicii is still da best

    Payola realness

She was exposed for using payola
Nobody knows this broad in America

Rolling stone magazine did an investigation and dua lipa’s name was listed as one of the artists who use payola.

Cardi was not on the list
Camila cabello was not on the list

Of course Camicky wasn’t on the payola list

She didn’t have a budget for payola or playola because she wasn’t giving the return her label needed

Hence she received 8 flops in the last 365 days and a canceled tour

Shes not a star who can stand on her own like a Cardi can

Congrats to Dua. I’m still shocked that Don’t Start Now didn’t hit #1 one of the biggest hits of the year. Break My Heart should have entered the Top 10 but at least it went platinum. Overall Levitating is one of the best songs on Future Nostalgia.

Pop don’t need her. Levitating needed Doja or Cardi to hit the Top 5. At this point, Madonna’s an IG vampire and Missy’s pen looking suspect sans Timbaland (how many fücking verses must be about getting hair and nails did and making money?!?😪) Kitsch Hick, horse-faced, hoarse Miley has been low key making bops since 2019. This mustache-for-brows sulker can levitate outta music ’cause IDGAF.
