RiRi took to Instagram to celebrate the new year by posting a selfie on Instagram with the caption: “new year’s resolution: apply the pressure.”

This caused one fan to respond, saying:
“Resolution should be releasing the album.”
The ‘Needed Me’ singer then replied to the comment with:
“this comment is sooo 2019. grow up.”
However, later on she doubled back and said:
“2021 energy.”
The GRAMMY-winner’s long-rumored album ‘R9’ has been in the works for some time. In 2019, Rihanna shared a video on Instagram where she hinted at the project (as we reported here).
Her last album, ‘Anti,’ was met with both critical and commercial success.

Anti is Rihanna best album because she finally stepped out artistically and followed through. That being said, it’s still not a great ‘all around’ album. There’s atleast 3-5 filler tracks that aren’tas good as the bonus tracks, 3 songs that are terribly underproduced including “Kiss It Better”, and as the rollout and release was a complete disaster. It took a year of snippets and singles for the album to eventually be leaked and thrown out. The album really didn’t have any ‘mega hits’ either, “Work” went #1 and then was forgotten about, “Needed Me” only did good in Urban and R&B because Pop didn’t want it and “Love On The Brain” was promising but never went anywhere. The albums numbers and chart status was held up by streaming as streaming has made it easy for a multitude of artists to break and create new records. It’s no template for any Pop girl because it’s this grand dame, monumental album. It’s simply Rihanna finding her artistic freedom and not caring. Even at her best, it was plenty of room for improvement.

i’m very disappointed by her behavior toward her fans which are really loyals, patient and probably buying some of her clothes and make-up while it’s probably not what they are looking for at first. If you turn your back on the fanbase you built up all these years you won’t be surprised if they turn their back on you the day you will decide to come back. Sad but at this point I don’t care about her anymore.
I love Rihanna but I’m certainly not worried about if or when she’ll release new music, although of course I hope she does and I’ll definitely pre-order the album, most likely on vinyl. I’m the same with any artist. When they release, they release. I don’t know why so many people are so stressed out by when that may or may not be, not how much you love the artist. She also already has a huge back catalogue to go back and replay. I know I do and still enjoy a lot of it to this day. I even forget how much I love a lot of it until I decide to listen to it.

As for her cookbook, why not? It may just be something she has on her bucket list of things she wants to do. We all have a number of different passions and interests and it’s healthy to explore and try new things. She’s making the most of being in a position where she can do these things.
