Lil Nas X reigns atop of the Official UK Singles Chart with controversial new single ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name).’
Full story below…
The 21-year-old performer has nabbed the second British #1 of his career with the song everyone is talking about.
Nas’ first was his breakout smash ‘Old Town Road’ in 2019.
The song’s win was fuelled by streaming, with a meaty piece of that piece being comprised of video views.
6.8 million streams made ‘Montero’ the UK’s most-streamed song of the week, with 2.5 million of that sum being amassed from views from the visual. A visual that depicted Nas drop from heaven into hell by way of a stripper pole and saw him go on to twerk on Satan.
‘Montero’ is the second release of the year to launch at #1, following ‘Drivers License’ by Olivia Rodrigo – which pulled off the feat back in January.
Celebrating the news, Nas tweeted:
MONTERO IS OFFICIALLY NUMBER 1 IN THE UK 🇬🇧! THANK YOU GUYS SO FUCKING MUCH! pic.twitter.com/rHeEBGZRlM

The release also benefitted from ample controversy around Satan Shoes Nas released in partnership with MCSHF. Said sneakers, which have since been pulled after Nike filed a lawsuit, supposedly featured a compartment comprised of human blood.
Sell that music any way one can, ay?
