After spending most of the last year in headlines for legal woes and battling rumors of substance abuse and mental health issues, Lil Nas X is stepping into a new chapter and doing so with striking honesty.

Taking to Instagram with a very candid video on Wednesday (June 17), the rapper shared that after spending several months in rehab following his highly publicized arrest last summer he is now in a far healthier place and coming to terms with his mental health status.
“When I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis, I feel like I had known for the past few years but I [didn’t] want to admit to it because I didn’t want to have to take medication and have people think different of me,” he said before continuing, “I’m already Black and gay, like damn, God. Come on, Black, gay and bipolar? I’m living life on extreme hard mode. On a serious note, I’m doing much better, I’m feeling better.
Beyond recovery on the health front, music is firmly back in focus for the GRAMMY winner.
“I’m creating freely and there’s less fear in my heart and I’m smelling the roses. I’ve been doing music for seven years now. Speaking of music, I want to let you guys know there’s new music on the way. I’m not getting completely to it just yet but I’m excited to do that,” he said.
With renewed clarity and confidence, Lil Nas X confirmed fresh material on the horizon as he prepares to launch the official ‘Dreamboy’ album as the follow-up to the March 2025-released ‘Days Before Dreamboy‘ EP.
At writing, no tentative release date has been announced for his new music.
