Months after DMX‘s tragic passing, the official cause of the rapper’s death has been revealed.

In a statement to Vulture, the Westchester County medical examiner’s office confirmed that the MC died from the fatal combination of a cocaine-induced heart attack which cut off blood flow to his brain.
Explaining that there was a 30-40 minute interval between the arrival of paramedics at the scene and Simmons’s arrival at the hospital on April 2, officials revealed that there was no hope for recovery even though his heart briefly begun beating again.
“His death literally happened immediately because the brain was dead.
So obviously, there were a number of days where he was on ventilatory support and so forth in the hospital. However, he was diagnosed brain-dead early on … He never woke up from [a] coma.”
DMX was just 50 years old at the time of his death.
