Per TMZ, the rapper has formally filed documents to have his name changed from his birth name Kanye Omari West to Ye – his longtime nickname.
He’s also angling to drop the “West” entirely. Meaning, if approved, he’d be a mononym moving forward.
The star’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian-West has opted to keep the name post their split, meaning she’d be a West when Ye, well, wouldn’t.
