Janet Jackson is still riding high from reports her eponymous Lifetime documentary, a two-night TV event that aired Friday (January 28) and Saturday (January 29), racked up a historic 15 million viewers (as we reported here).
Instead of resting on her laurels, the Pop icon is continuing on the promo trail in its support.
Most recently spotted on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ Jackson beamed about the success of the event – even admitting she was afraid viewers would find it ‘boring.’
As social media reviews rolled in to suggest quite the contrary, the diva may soon be giving the Net something else to talk about: new music.
Making a virtual appearance, Janet reflected on highlights of the 4-hour documentary including revisiting her hometown of Gary, Indiana, her father – Joe Jackson – pushing her into the music industry instead of going to college for business law, and more.
Of particular interest to fans was new song, ‘Luv I Luv,’ which had a snippet featured closer to the end of the broadcast.
“It’s so funny because it was a song I recorded three years ago and in the documentary we thought it would be cool to put this song right here – this moment in the documentary and everyone started reacting to it,” she said at the 5:50 mark of the previously unheard song. “I don’t know…we’ll have to see [if I release the full song].”
When quizzed on if ‘Luv’ and other unreleased Janet songs are set to be compiled on a new album, JJ coyly responded “we’ll see.”

All four parts of ‘Janet Jackson: the Documentary’ re-air Friday (February 4) at 8pm only on Lifetime.
I don’t like Luv I Luv from the snippet. Its sounds like a whispery mess.
Maybe you need hearing aid. Janet is soft n s***.
I agree. I love Janet but that song is not a lead single and maybe not even a deep cut album track. I want new music too but that is not the song to capitalize on the doc. It would be like releasing the instantly forgettable “Just A Little While” after the Superbowl. I still contend the fallout wouldn’t have been as bad if she had released a banger instead of “I Want You” and JALW.
And Janet is so sweet and insecure. 50 years in the biz and she still worries people won’t like her art. We Luv you. DUNK!
Janet has songs like black cat, alright, nasty boys etc where she is singing deeper Sometimes she is soft sometimes she is deeper. Or baby Janet feat Kanye y
