Chart Check [Hot 100]: Megan Thee Stallion & Dua Lipa’s ‘Pie’ is the Highest Debut of the Week (And Dua’s Career)

Published: Thursday 24th Mar 2022 by Rashad

After sending their latest duet single off to the Hot 100 races on March 11, dynamic diva duo Dua Lipa and Megan Thee Stallion are trotting to personal milestones this week’s thanks to the warm welcome of ‘Sweetest Pie’ on the hit list.

Details inside:

The chart-topping twosome – who are also sharing stage time aboard Lipa’s global ‘Future Nostalgia‘ tour – saw their names printed together for the first time on the refreshed Hot 100 (revealed March 22).  Debuting at the #15 spot, the entry comes as the highest of any song this week.

A particular win for Dua, who just celebrated her hit ‘Levitating’ becoming the second longest-running hit in Hot 100 history, the top 20 arrival of ‘Sweetest’ is the highest debut on the tally of her career to date.  Her previous best premiere was the #21 launch of the ‘Future Nostalgia’ hit ‘Break My Heart’ in April 2020.

For Meg, ‘Sweetest’ comes as the second-highest debut of her career following the #11 opening of 2019’s ‘Hot Girl Summer’ featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign.

Congrats to them! But I look @ that list & smh. I barely hear any of these songs. What a weak hot 100. Take me back in the day!

Agreed. I never really got how this ranking works? It’s always something I’ve never heard of.

      • Bleu March 24, 2022

The charts consist of Gen Z tiktok songs. It’s a joke. The charts mean nothing these days. Older music makes up 75% of music consumption. That’s very telling if you ask me.

  4. Kenneth March 24, 2022

      • Dc March 24, 2022

It’s a flop because the second week drop to 39 it will peak at 23 with Ed feature flop

      • SoNotSorry March 24, 2022

So anyone who’s in the billboard but not in the top 10 is a flop?

      • SoNotSorry March 24, 2022

Dear Dc, you need to stop that silly game. Being in the billboard charts is not a flop, especially when it stays in the top 40 so keep on acting like a stupid hater.
