Megan Thee Stallion CLAPS BACK at Countersuit by Estranged Record Label

Published: Monday 21st Mar 2022 by Sam

Megan Thee Stallion‘s label woes rage on.

For, the femcee’s legal wrangle with 1501 Certified Entertainment just took another bumpy turn. Because the imprint is countersuing her.

Find out why below…

The Hot Girl Coach has been embroiled in a fiery battle with Carl Crawford and his 1501 label.

As reported, she filed suit asserting that she had fulfilled her record contract – a deal she says was extortionate and exploitative. This came after first moving to have the pact amended to fairer terms.

There have also been a series of spin-off motions filed by the star alleging that Crawford and 1501 were engaging in behavior that aimed to stifle her career.

Now, 1501 is firing back by way of its own countersuit.

It’s claiming that Meg’s last “album” technically wasn’t an album and alleges that she owes more music – and a tonne of money too.

Per 1501’s suit, ‘Something For The Hotties’ – the femcee’s 21-track most recent release – is simply a compilation of old, earlier released material. It also points to the inclusion of spoken-word interludes.

At a more granular level, the label insists that the project’s duration – 29 minutes – does not amount to an “album” as outlined by the original deal.

The suit dives deeper, claiming that the performer should understand that any such “album” must be comprised of a minimum of “new master recordings of studio performances” that have not already been released. The label also points to its contracted requirement to “approve” the release – which it says was not the case with ‘Hotties.’

It’s asking the court to deem the 2021 set as unqualifying as an “album” and thus requiring Meg to release two more albums on the label.

But that’s not all.

1501 is asking for full tallying of the moolah the Houston star has generated from “collaborations, sponsorships, endorsements, and side engagements.” “Why?” one may wonder? The label says it’s owed a cut; specifically up to $1 million dollars in unpaid fees.

Megan has maintained that 1501 has not had any role – financial or strategic – in any corner of her career since signing the contract.

Reacting to the countersuit, she wrote:

“First the man over my label said I don’t make him any money … now he counter suing trying to keep me on his label because he wants to make more money lol if I ain’t making you no money why not just drop me?

Let me gooo lol.

Greedy a** men.

My lawyers asked him for an expense report(money 1501 supposedly has spent on ME)… why this grown a** man put his jewelry and chains on there… lord free me from this joke a** label.”

Yikes.
