As the debate about Doja Cat‘s status as a rapper shows no signs of cooling, ‘On Chill’ hitmaker Wale put hits two cents on the hot topic.

“Entering the chat” via Twitter Monday (April 18), the Maybach Music Group star rolled up to let his 6 million followers know that he holds Cat’s bars in high regard.
“Doja Cat one of the best rappers out male or female alien or otherwise,” he said. “Anybody that raps for real can list to her raps and can clearly see she is a rapper.”
The comment comes amid ongoing debates about Doja’s classification as a rapper as some argue her musical offerings are more Pop/R&B-leaning than Hip Hop. It’s a sentiment upheld by a number of the genre’s supporters and performers as recently evidenced by rapstress Remy Ma who said she didn’t regard the ‘Say So’ hitmaker as an emcee.
Wale respectfully disagrees.
“I’m just now finding out there was a debate,” he started. “I’ll just say this; I’ve been doing this thing for a minute now. When that girl drops something on on of these “rap” beats, you gon see.”
While Wale’s weigh-in incited a polarizing slew of responses (to the tune of over 300 comments), Doja has yet to respond to his praise.

To me Doha is like missy, she’s an entertainer. When she sings it’s good when she raps she’s lyrical and when she dances she executes! She’s an entertainer.
