Queens saluting Queens!

Just days after Beyonce toasted some of music’s most respected women via the rap-sung portion of the ‘Queens Remix’ of her #1 hit ‘Break My Soul’ (as we reported here), Queen of Quiet Storm Anita Baker is returning the favor.

More inside:

Baker took to Twitter Monday (August 8) to give Bey a nod for the success of her latest album, ‘Renaissance,’ and more.

“For the newbies, Lady B has always been supportive,” she started one of the posts by saying.

Later, the 64-year-old R&B icon reflected on Bey’s cover of the enduring classic ‘Sweet Love’ (featured on the latter’s 2009 live album ‘I Am…Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas‘).

“Her cover of ‘Sweet Love a few years ago energized my catalog and always makes my heart smile,” Baker shared.

Anita comes as the latest legend to give Bey props in the last few weeks.

Ahead of the July 29 arrival of ‘Renaissance,’ Queen of the B3 Hammond Organ Twinkie Clark (lead singer of the legendary Gospel quartet The Clark Sisters) took to social media to thank the ‘Break My Soul’ singer for using the 1981 Clark classic ‘Center of Thy Will’ as the sample in the album’s cut, ‘Church Girl.’

Weeks later, Ron Isley of the iconic Isley Brothers took to press to share his elation for the music megastar’s re-record of the group’s timeless tune, ‘Make Me Say It Again’ girl.

I had forgotten about that cover. I love Anita’s original of course, but Beyonce’s cover was great, the song suits her voice well.
