Tory Lanez may be embroiled in controversy for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion and reportedly assaulting R&B singer August Alsina, but his dedicated fan base didn’t let the noise get in the way of them streaming his seventh studio album, ‘Sorry 4 What.’
Released September 30, the 20-track set – which features Yoko Gold, A Boogie With a Hoodie, and more – came as his first studio effort since 2021’s ‘Alone at Prom,’ which entered the Billboard 200 at #59 (his lowest charting for an LP yet).
And while some expected an even worse fate for ‘Sorry’ given its limited promotion, industry analysts have wielded surprising news about the project’s commercial performance as it’s expected to premiere on charts as the best-selling new Hip-Hop project of the week!
Details inside.
Tory Lanez’ ‘Sorry 4 What’
Predicted First-Week Sales (SPS): 23,900 units
Billboard 200 Debut: #10
According to HDD, Lanez’ latest LP will impact the Billboard 200’s top 10 upon the chart’s refresh on Sunday (October 9) thanks to total sales of nearly 24,000 units its first commercial tracking week.
And while the sum comes as the second lowest first-week sales he’s collected for a studio album to date, the figure – whether they grant a top 10 placement or not – is still enough to crown ‘Sorry’ the week’s top-selling new Hip-Hop effort.
If the prediction comes true it will mark the seventh time the 30-year-old has placed a project in the Billboard 200’s top 10 as it stands to follow 2016’s ‘I Told You’ (#4 peak), 2018’s ‘Memories Don’t Die’ (#3 peak), ‘Love Me Now’ (#4 peak), ‘Chixtape 5’ (#2 peak), ‘Daystar’ (#10 peak), and 2020’s ‘The New Toronto’ EP (#2 peak).
