AMAs 2022: Ciara Reveals She Was Set to JOIN Chris Brown for Epic Michael Jackson ‘Thriller’ Tribute / Shares Rehearsal Footage

Published: Monday 21st Nov 2022 by Sam

And the plot thickens.

Chris Brown made headlines this weekend after taking to social media to reveal that his surprise Michael Jackson tribute performance at the American Music Awards 2022 was scrapped with no explanation.

Now, Ciara has shared that she was set to join her ‘Turntables’ collaborator as part of a seismic salute to the King of Pop’s ‘Thriller’ album, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Moments ago, CiCi wrote the following online:

“MJ thank you for the inspiration you’ve given us all! Thriller 40th Anniversary. @ChrisBrown you’re a rare breed of this generation. Always fun to rock with you 💃🏽”

The singer also shared a clip of the pair dancing up a storm in rehearsals:

I wonder why Chris Brown was denied HIS MOMENT. There must be some detail that is being hidden from the public.

(It would have been amazing to see his improvement from his Semi Epic 2006 WMA MJ showcase.)

Chris brown is really the greatest entertainer of his generation. Certain people dont want that narrative revived.
Ciara a close second. That’s ok. Give the bet awards those ratings w a scream performance too

    • Nah November 21, 2022

      Agree!!

    • Starra November 21, 2022

That would be Bruno Mars. Compared his shows to Chris’. A true entertainer in ALL aspects. Chris is cute though in an Omarion/Mario kinda way lol.

~This Deserves Both An Explanation AND An Apology. BOTH Chris Brown And Ciara Worked Hard On Rehearsing This..Time That Coulda Been Put Into Other Projects..Only To Have The AMA’S Pull A “Psych..!!!!”.

Sure he can dance his a*s off but Chris brown’s voice and music as of lately has been on a steady decline.

  3. Nah November 21, 2022

There’s only one reason that I can think of. And it’s what I think it is, then it’s really unfortunate that he’s continuously punished for his past.

  4. Starra November 21, 2022

I believe the reasoning has more to do with MJ than Chris.

Nomj is everywhere and his accusers are proven liars unless it is about MJ Estate who sued Disney and MJ won and Disney is still sore

  5. TruthHurts November 21, 2022

It would have been nice to see them perform SCREAM.

Ciara is a great dancer but she doesn’t have Janet or Michaels military like precision or smoothness. That was proven at her tribute to Janet on VH1. Her moves were very sloppy. Her and Chris are moreso modern street dancers.

    • Pat November 21, 2022

Ciara’s arms def aren’t as sharp as Janet. Michael’s choreo was more gangly n less technical. He shined more in freestyles

    • yup! November 21, 2022

THis! Neither of them are clean line dancers. But they are good at what THEY do. That said, a tribute can be open to interpretation. Which it would have to be. Ciara did a very sloppy job with that Janet tribute. She said in an interview she would be able to outdance Janet and she fails to show us when given the platform.

Okay so both of them are great dancers though I have nothing nice to say about their attempts to sing. But the thing is, there’s only one Michael Jackson. The tributes are nice and if someone has to do it, these two (Ciara and Chris) are among the best. I just can’t help but point out that no one can nail M.J., they will always fall short. But they get an “A” for coming close and closer than most.

Thank God they didn’t waste performance

The AMAs had the lowest viewership ever 😮‍💨

I really hope THE GRAMMYS picks this back up… it would be perfect for opening the show.

Also I agree with everything said about ciara tribute to Janet. On 2015 BET I couldn’t get with that either. I used to think ciara was a great dancer until she tried Janet and MJ. CHRIS BROWN and Normani are probably the strongest dancers of our generation.

    • Ali November 21, 2022

The difference is Normani is a TRAINED dancer. Mya, Pink and Usher slayed their Janet tributes on MTV Icon back in the day too. Janet’s choreography is VERY difficult to emulate. Chris isn’t trained either. While good at what he does, you can tell by his movements.

    • Eric November 21, 2022

I thought about the Grammys, but I think it’s too long after the anniversary for them to be interested.

I rarely see someone who agrees with my thoughts about Normani’s dancing skills. She’s incredible and so is Chris.

      Tinashe***

      Extremely underrated.

      • yup! November 21, 2022

She’s rated where she should be for someone who has 1 song to chart well a decade ago.

      • Nah November 21, 2022

@yup! That really made me LOL…

Everyone is surprised? Did y’all really think white folks just forgot about chris brown’s past? Only black folks close their eyes to your crimes if they like your song or music (see R. Kelly), white folks on the other hand will always remind you.

Saw the YouTube video of Chris’ practice for this tribute – it was showstopping!!! I don’t understand why people are still harping on the Chris/Rhianna incident. He paid his dues for his actions, Rhianna has long since let this go and this man is clearly talented. Thankfully not everyone is as unforgiving – Chris has surpassed Elvis for most gold records and he continues to perform to sold out shows! Keep sharing your talent with the world Chris!
