Having already made quite the splash at U.S. box offices as ‘Ariel’ aboard the live-action remake of the Disney classic ‘The Little Mermaid,’ singer-songwriter Halle Bailey is undoubtedly hoping for similar reception on the Billboard music charts with her long-awaited debut solo single: ‘Angel.’
Arriving courtesy of Parkwood/Columbia Records, ‘Angel’ marks Halle’s first taste of original music since 2020’s ‘Ungodly Hour‘ alongside sister Chloe (who is gearing up to embark on the next leg of her solo tour in support of her own unaccompanied LP release ‘In Pieces‘).
Believed to be among the gems prepped for the younger Bailey’s yet-titled debut album, hop inside to hear ‘Angel.’

No replay value….. Her voice is so unique that she doesn’t have a pop or r&b flavor to keep a song on the charts imo. Also, it’s like she has to now keep her good girl image due to her Disney deal. In others NEXT!

I agree. It’s very different from the typical ‘man did me wrong’ or ‘I’m just a h** and don’t know how to be s*** without being about raw s**’ or ‘all I wanna do is party’ garbage that is clogging up mainstream radio. This is unique and uplifting and what is needed especially now. Other artists need to take a page and stop trying to do what everyone else is doing.
Halle is better at picking a lead single than chloe. I’d give it a 9 out of 10. Video was well executed and cinematic. The semi theatrical chorus is definitely the highlight of this song. Great lyrics, sounds like it would be one of the standout cuts on Lion King the Gift. So glad Halle decided not to sing about a man like Chloe did which was a very boring overdone theme.
The Ethereal route is definitely Halles lane.

YAwn. Her and her ghetto training sister need to get back to work on the real. Neither of them is solo artists and so far, the “Do it” song is what caught. Should have never stopped from there. This is not it either.
I like the song and REALLY like the video. It will be interesting to watch how her solo music career evolves. My suspicion is that they are stronger musically as a duo. But I am rooting for their success!
Well they both infused their solo styles as a duo which works. But I think the solo route allows the general public to know who they are as individuals but Chloe had confirmed they will be back together after their solo endeavors .

The second part is well done but it just sounds like a b side, it’s kinda unflavored
I knew she was gonna go with the alt-r&b/pop style due to the type of voice she had and her style of solo covers. I think this is a great introductory single as to Halle is as a person and I love the song.
Halle is sticking to her roots. This will take her farther than her hooker sister. Nobody wants that forced over s3xed bullspit. Mover over Chloe. Halle is here.

I love Halle down but this isn’t first single material. It’s not even summer material. Should’ve saved it for the album or a third single. The video also looks hella cheap. So sad they’re not being properly managed.
It’s a pretty bold decision to release a debut solo that has a message. I low key hope she doesn’t dwell too much on her Little Mermaid casting drama and wound up becoming an ‘advocate-artist’ early into her solo career. Keeping my fingers crossed that she releases a banger as follow-up and include Potion in her debut LP. PS: kinda cute how Chloe’s debut solo is ‘Mercy’ while Halle’s is titled ‘Angel’. They both have voices of an angel indeed!

Halle has that sweet innocent voice and looks just like Aaliyah. Not comparing them, just their innocence. And this song is amazing
