In news that Iggy Azalea fans, affectionately called #Azaleans, will certainly fancy, the Aussie-born rapstress is set to hop to her first Diamond certification at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) thanks to her 2014 breakthrough hit.
Details inside.
Taking to press Friday (September 29), the RIAA published news that ‘Fancy‘ – already one of the biggest global hits by a female rapper in music history – is seeing its success continued Stateside thanks to a certification upgrade that now lists it sitting at 9x Platinum. The measure denotes sales equivalence of 9 million in the United States.
Just one update away from the next certification tier, the sales threshold – if accomplished – would make the GRAMMY nominee only the third female rapper in history to boast ownership of a Diamond-certified single following Nicki Minaj‘s ‘Super Bass‘ and Cardi B‘s ‘I Like It‘ and ‘Bodak Yellow.‘ The latter is also attached to a third single certified as high, Maroon 5‘s 2018 smash hit ‘Girls Like You,’ but she is not credited as she is a featured act on the tune.
