Chart Check [Hot 100]: Doja Cat Enjoys First Multi-Week Stay at #1 with ‘Paint the Town Red’

Doja Cat sees her name painted in top positions on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard 200 thanks to the first-week commercial response to her fourth studio album, ‘Scarlet,’ and its breakout hit single ‘Paint the Town Red.’

Details inside.

Already boasting the title of first Rap song to hit #1 on the Hot 100 in 2023 when it soared to the top spot weeks ago, the Dionne Warwick-sampling bop returned to the chart’s summit this week (for a second time). Here are the numbers that powered the rebound.

  • Streaming: 27.5 million U.S.-based streams
  • Digital Downloads: 6,000 Sold
  • Radio Airplay: 52.6 million audience impressions

A personal milestone for Doja, the repeat run at #1 (after a brief hiatus thanks to Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, and others) marks the first time the Rap diva has ever spent more than one week atop the hitlist. Her previous (and inaugural) tenancy came courtesy of the rise of the Nicki Minaj-assisted remix of ‘Say So‘ in 2020.

The news of the reascent of ‘Red’ comes just weeks before her dedicated fans (affectionately called #Kittens) will get to see the cut performed live aboard the Doechii and Ice Spice-assisted ‘Scarlet Tour,’ which kicks off on Halloween (October 31).
