A who’s who of R&B assembled for the official ‘Color Purple’ soundtrack ahead of the film’s December 25 premiere.

Primarily powered by its cast, the companion album boasts stunning vocal showings from the likes of Fantasia, H.E.R., Taraji P. Henson, Halle Bailey, Colman Domingo, and Danielle Brooks.

Beyond the movie’s stars, however, the soundtrack – preceded to Billboard 200 chart battle by Alicia Keys‘ ‘Lifeline‘ as well as the Usher and H.E.R. duet ‘Risk It All‘ – also features appearances from Mary J. Blige, Mary Mary, Keyshia Cole, Jorja Smith, Megan Thee Stallion, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Jennifer Hudson, The Dream, and more.

Produced by Quincy Jones, Scott Sanders, and Larry Jackson, the 37-track effort boasts 17 timeless classics from the film alongside 16 new songs and 4 remixes.

Stream them all inside courtesy of Apple Music and Spotify.

Though I think the idea of songs inspired by is weird for a musical, can’t wait to hear the songs with Megan and LUDMILLA #shewon

The biggest surprise is how good Keyshias song is. This is a return to form for her

I like “No Love Lost” the most. The melody, arrangement and background vocals are all great. And no expletives – just good, clean r&b. Maybe Keyshia can give us the album that Monica refuses to. The one other inspired song I like is “All I Need”.

Why isn’t the album available on Apple Music? Every track is listed separately. This is ghetto…
