While the Bad Boy Entertainment mogul spent much of the pushing his return to music with ‘The Love Album: Off the Grid,’ he found himself on the media griddle after Cassie – his former artist and lover – filed a jaw-dropping lawsuit against him.
The filing, which came with a formal “trigger warning,” unpacked a decades worth of allegations – including sexual assault, rape, sex trafficking, and physical violence. It was made possible by way of an amendment to New York law – allowing plaintiff’s to proceed with cases that otherwise would have been impossible to file due to the expiry of the statute of limitations.

The filing brought with it a an outpouring of support for Cassie – including words from members of Danity Kane – the group Diddy put together on Making the Band.
In an unprecedented move, the suit was “amicably” settled in just 48 hours.
But that wasn’t the end of the saga for Diddy, because three more women came forward with similar suits. Again, permitted due to the tweak in New York law.
