Dionne Warwick, Frankie Beverly, & Chloe Bailey Among Honorees at 2024 Urban One Honors

You can’t help but love to see the (long overdue) flowers Dionne Warwick has been getting over the last few years.

Beyond reportedly moving forward on a highly anticipated biopic with names like Letoya Luckett and Teyana Taylor circling the rumor mill as potential leads, Warwick was nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 and later included in the class of trailblazing acts toasted at the 2023 Kennedy Center Honors.

The homages seem to show no sign of slowing as the 83-year-young diva is kicking off 2024 with even more recognition of her legendary career.

Urban One took to press this week to announce the honorees for its 2024 Urban One Honors: Warwick will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, Chloe Bailey (who also performed Dionne’s tribute at the 2023 Kennedy Center Honors) will receive the Generation Next award, Gospel icon Donald Lawrence will receive the Inspirational Impact trophy, and Soul legend Frankie Beverly will get the Living Legend award.

Set to be taped Saturday (January 20) at Atlanta’s Coca-Cola Roxy, the show will be televised during Black History Month on TV One on February 25.

“From soulful ballads to timeless contributions and contemporary brilliance, these iconic artists have not only shaped the musical landscape but have also contributed significantly to the cultural fabric of our society,” said Michelle Rice, president of TV One and CLEO TV. “Each honoree represents a unique chapter in the story of music, and we are honored to celebrate their enduring legacies at this year’s Urban One Honors: Best In Black.”

The ceremony’s star-studded performer list includes Teyana Taylor, BeBe Winans, October London, and a reunion of ‘R&B Divas’ stars KeKe Wyatt, Chante Moore, Nicci Gilbert, and Angie Stone.

Out of all the black artists who deserve their flowers…. CHLOE BAILEY? The same chick who has yet to crack the top 20 with her sister OR solo? She has one damn album and that flopped. This is a slap in the face to newer artists who actually made an impact and found success musically. I could see her being a performer, cool but to be honored is a joke! She hasn’t done anything. Beyonce had to pay for this mess.
