Teyana Taylor may have threatened retirement due to feeling unappreciated by music fans, but on the movie front it appears she has never been more in demand.
Most recently, Rap Queen Lil Kim announced she wanted the 30-year-old to portray her in a biographical film (click here to read more). Ahead of that, Dionne Warwick expressed her desire to have Taylor do the same for the long-awaited film adaptation of her legendary life story.
After Teyana responded by suggesting she was interested in the role, Dionne took to press to indicate her list of wants exceeds acting for the ‘How You Want It?’ singer.
When quizzed by ‘Entertainment Weekly’ about the latest happenings around her forthcoming biopic, the iconic Warwick surprised with news the venture would likely be a multi-part miniseries (not film as previously reported).
“It’s going to be a series, we’re planning to do an episodic type of a show. [Teyana] is certainly a talented young lady with whom I’ve had the pleasure of interfacing. In fact, we had a conversation [recently] on the telephone,” said the 8x GRAMMY winner.
That wasn’t the only surprise, however. Dionne also asserted she wanted Taylor to do more than showcase her acting skills.
“[Teyana is] very excited about the prospect of being involved and she’s also going to be very, very much involved in directing it and putting together parts and parcel of how we see this going.”
Teyana, who has already broken ground in the music realm as a singer-songwriter and producer as well as on TV and film as an actress, is also an award-winning music video director. For the latter, she assumes the stage name ‘Spike T.’
