Embattled Gospel singer Kim Burrell is looking to turn criticism into coins after braving backlash for a now-viral video that saw her admonish a churchgoer for trying to join her in song.

The clip, which has now been viewed millions of times across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and beyond, shows the disgruntled GRAMMY nominee demanding an audience member be quiet during her solo performance at a house of worship.
Although she previously made headlines for sharing her side of the story, the explanation did little to quell the criticism.
In response, Kim not only doubled down on her original stance but provided further details about her actions.
“The world is saying it now, ‘let that mask work for you,'” she relayed. “It is evident that there are so many different interpretations as mine was that night. I was encouraging that woman to hear the voice of God and not just our own voices. It wasn’t meant to be derogatory.”
To add, the 51-year-old announced the sale of “Let that Mask Work For You” merch (as seen in the video above).
