I really tried to listed to CC more than once. I think there’s 4 decent songs, but the rest feel like a random compilation. I skipped a lot. Miley’s contribution is a highlight though. Her voice fits the genre more than Beyoncé’s. Maybe that’s it. CC doesn’t feel like an authentic country album. More like an homage or karaoke. I hope her next album has a stronger concept. I listened to Shania Twain this week. Made me appreciate her country music much more.

I think she was obviously trying cater more to the white crowd after noticing all of the Country music dominance over the chart lately. Well, looks like it will best Renaissance’s first week sales so that means she was able to take a complete turn in direction without her sales suffering. She knew a sudden country turn was risky but this debut will outsell other recent country acts and her own previous project so it seems the risk will turn out in her favor.
