Billy Ray Cyrus Shades the CMAs for Snubbing Beyonce’s ‘Cowboy Carter’: She Knows “Her Album Was Brilliant…She Doesn’t Need Their Approval”

Miley Cyrus‘ legendary godmother Dolly Parton may not have been the most critical of the CMAs for snubbing Beyonce‘s history-making, Country-inspired album ‘Cowboy Carter,’ her legendary father – on the other hand – had a few choice words for the awards show.

Hours before the 2024 CMAs stormed television screens live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday (November 20), Billy Ray Cyrus took to social media to congratulate the nominees.

“Congratulations to ALL @cma nominees! I’m so happy and proud to see country music opening their doors and format to be inclusive to all people, all styles,” he captioned alongside throwback photos of the times he’s captured trophies from the ceremony.

Later in the post, he called out the award show for snubbing Bey’s chart-topping ‘Carter’ project.

“I was surprised to see @beyonce wasn’t nominated??? Her album was brilliant… her single [‘Texas Hold ‘Em] ruled,” Billy Ray wrote. “But she knows that. She doesn’t need a trophy from the CMA… or permission …. or approval from any of their judges. ‘When ya knock em out…. Ya don’t need no judge’. – Muhammad Ali.”

Cyrus’ GRAMMY-winning daughter Miley is famously featured on the ‘Carter’ cut ‘II Most Wanted‘ which soared to the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.

His post comes as the latest headline-making commentary about the CMAs snub from a Country superstar and is garnering the exact opposite reaction of his predecessor’s Luke Bryant.

That’s if she even bothered to PROMOTE it. All the other CMA nominees worked their b*** off this year via touring and gigging. But she just stayed exclusive and did an interview for some magazines. Cowboy Carter was definitely a great album imo but the reception it got was expected and deserved due to minimal efforts.
