Tory Lanez is continuing to maintain his innocence as he pursues a fresh legal challenge from behind bars.

The incarcerated rapper, born Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence following his 2022 conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion during an incident in July 2020.

Now, he is speaking publicly on camera for the first time since being imprisoned.

In an interview with NBC News filmed at California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, Lanez said he believes he was wrongfully convicted and pointed to what he described as newly surfaced evidence that he claims was never disclosed to his defense team.

“I believe I was wrongfully convicted. I just want someone to look at the evidence and ask if this was fair.”

His legal team is preparing to petition the California Supreme Court, arguing prosecutors failed to share potentially material evidence during the trial, a claim known as a Brady violation.

The latest appeal comes after a state appellate court denied an appeal and upheld the conviction last month.

Lanez also confirmed he has submitted a clemency request to Governor Gavin Newsom. As of now, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has declined to comment, and Megan’s legal team has not issued a response.
