‘Let Me Love You’ hitmaker Mario let fans in on a little secret recently when he revealed he welcomed his first child.
Four months after taking to Instagram to hard launch his relationship with realtor Esmeralda Rios and announce the two were expecting their first child together, the 39-year-old singer has confirmed the happy couple welcomed the baby on Monday (January 26).
“Women are God’s greatest creation [because] what I witnessed today was only God’s work! Healthy baby boy,” he told his 2.4 million followers on Instagram via Stories.
At writing, Mario (born Mario Barrett) has not revealed the child’s name.
And while the comments were flooded with well wishes overall, Barrett is no stranger to seeing his love life receive the opposite response having braved harsh criticisms of colorism in the past – particularly surrounding his romance with Rios.
At the height of the detraction, however, the 2-time GRAMMY nominee laughed off the accusations by addressing them head-on.
“I like good energy and who loves me the way that’s healthy. Could be Black, White, Mexican, alien… I dated an alien before it was great,” he said at the time.
