The Queen of Hip-Hop/Soul has officially expanded her partnership with the network, signing on for a trio of new original films inspired by her legendary catalog.

Leading the charge is ‘Mary J. Blige Presents: Be Happy,’ named after the fan favorite cut from her classic ‘My Life’ era. The film marks Gabourey Sidibe’s directorial debut and boasts a solid cast including Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer and Russell Hornsby.

The story centers on Val, a devoted wife and mother navigating empty-nest blues, emotional distance and slow unraveling of her marriage. A trip to New Orleans sparks self-discovery, romance and long-dormant dreams.

Deadline reports that Blige’s previous music-inspired films ‘Mary J. Blige’s Real Love’ (2023), ‘Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman’ (2023) and ‘Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair’ (2025) pulled in over 6 million viewers.
