After a three-decade hiatus from serving as hostess, Queen Latifah is gearing up to grace the next American Music Awards (AMAs) with her royal presence as the actress and emcee has been crowned MC of the next iteration of the award show.
Latifah last hosted the annual event in 1995, sharing the duty with co-hosts Tom Jones and Lorrie Morgan.
“I am so excited to return to the American Music Awards stage to host this year,” said Latifah in an official statement. “It’s been an incredible year for music and there is no better place to celebrate than in Las Vegas.”
Set for May 25 in Sin City, the 52nd annual AMAs will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT and also be streamed by Paramount+.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Queen Latifah back as host of the American Music Awards,” said Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, in an official statement. “A true powerhouse and trailblazer, she brings a dynamic presence and deep connection to both fans and fellow artists, making her the perfect choice to lead a night celebrating the biggest names and most defining moments in music.”
Nominations for the AMAs will be announced on April 14; fan voting will open the same day and close May 8.
