‘Roar‘ hitmaker Katy Perry has wasted little time roaring back at shocking allegations lifted by Ruby Rose after the ‘Batwoman‘ actress flew to social media recently to accuse the Pop star of sexual assault.
As news of the allegations dominated headlines at the top of the week, Perry issued a statement via a representative vehemently denying the claims.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies,” the spokesperson told Billboard on the Pop diva’s behalf.
The statement goes on to assert the Australian actress has a “well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals” that have “repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Regardless of Katy’s denial, police officials have announced they have launched an investigation of Rose’s accusations after the actress told her social media followers she would contact law enforcement “to see if any of my experiences can be investigated” despite “imagining they are past their statute of limitations.”
“Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010,” the Victoria Police Department told the press. “Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
The drama began over the weekend when Rose – in response to Perry’s reaction to Justin Bieber‘s headline-making set at Coachella – dropped the bombshell claims.
“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s–t what she thinks,” Ruby said on Threads at the time before sharing, “…as a woman, for a myriad of reasons, opening up about W on W violence and sexual abuse, seems to be 100 times harder than speaking about the male predators, at least for me.”
