Mariah Carey on Being Snubbed by Rock Hall of Fame AGAIN: “I Don’t Care”…But I’m Happy for Sade!

As ‘Soldier of Love‘ hitmaker Sade suits up to finally march into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after being snubbed by the induction committee in 2024, she’s being cheered on by a surprising fan: fellow music legend and 2026 nominee Mariah Carey.

Just days after Carey learned she had been snubbed for induction for a third time in her career after being listed among 2026 nominees, she was quizzed about her feelings about the omission during a chat with ‘Vanity Fair.’

“I hate answering that question, because the truth is I don’t care,” Mariah told the fashion mag. “And that’s my answer. But it’s also—it would be nice to get into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, because it’s a legendary thing. So, you know, that could be cool. But when I say I don’t care, it’s because I knew I wasn’t going to get in there this year. I just knew it. And the minute I saw Sade, I was like, ‘She’s in.’ I love Sade.”

That sentiment was echoed when the ‘Vision of Love‘ diva was seen outside The Peninsula Hotel in New York City on Monday (April 20).

In between signing autographs for a few adoring fans (affectionately called #Lambs), Carey fielded even more questions about the Hall of Fame from TMZ.

“No,” she said straight and to the point after being asked if she cared about the snub. “Who cares? Give it to somebody else…fantastic.”

That’s not all she said. Click PLAY on the video above to see more.
