In a time where opinions online can quickly become treated as fact, many fans and public figures are calling out the online music magazine for what they believe crossed the line from criticism to disrespect.

The publication scored the album a 1.3 out of 10 and referred to the project as “a piece of sh*t,” a comment that didn’t sit well with supporters of the R&B singer.

Among those speaking out was Loni Love, who criticized the review as unprofessional and questioned the legitimacy of the rating system altogether.

Others online also pointed to previous ratings from Pitchfork, comparing how the outlet once scored Ice Spice’s ‘Y2K!’ higher than ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson, sparking even more debate across social media.

While ‘Brown’ has received mixed reactions overall, Chris himself appears unfazed by the criticism.  And though he didn’t call the mag out by name in a post made to Instagram on Tuesday night (May 12), it’s clear who he was referring to.

“I don’t give a f-ck what these n—– is talking about; I know exactly who my fans are and I know exactly who’s hearing this album. If you’re not my fan, I don’t want you to listen to my sh-t. Go listen to motherf-cking Zara Larsson or something,” he said (as seen in the video above).

Ouch! The Zara mention comes nearly three months after the Swedish Pop sensation went viral for revealing she has Chris blocked on Spotify because she doesn’t listen to “abusers.”

Before Tuesday, Brown told fans he believes his latest project will grow on listeners over time.
