The ceremony took place at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on Thursday night  (June 11) and saw legendary Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg introduce Swift before her 21-minute acceptance speech.

Swift began by thanking her family for their sacrifices, explaining that her parents uprooted their lives to move from Pennsylvania to Nashville as a child so she could pursue songwriting.

Taylor said:

“You’re the reason I’m here tonight.”

She also recalled a conversation with Spielberg’s wife, Kate Capshaw, who told her: “Good and true things are easy.” Swift used that line to reflect on her 23-year career.

Swift is the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Among all artists, Stevie Wonder holds the overall record having been inducted at age 32 in 1983.

The 2026 inductee class also included Alanis MorissetteKenny LogginsPaul Stanley and Gene Simmons of Kiss, and Walter Afanasieff.

Swift was seated with her fiancé Travis Kelce and their mothers, Andrea Swift and Donna Kelce. Spielberg also joined them at their table.

The honour caps a busy week for Swift, who recently attended the Toy Story 5 premiere and Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.
