‘Michael’ is dancing its way into the history books.
The Michael Jackson biopic has officially become the highest-grossing biopic of all time, surpassing the mighty box office haul of ‘Oppenheimer.’

Led by Jaafar Jackson in the title role, the Antoine Fuqua-directed film has amassed $977.4 million worldwide in its tenth weekend of release.
The tally puts ‘Michael’ ahead of Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning ‘Oppenheimer,’ which closed out its global run with $975.8 million.
Domestically, the Lionsgate film has drummed up $370.2 million, while its international total currently stands at $607.2 million.
The latest milestone comes after the movie had already moonwalked past ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ to become the highest-grossing music biopic ever. Interestingly, both films were produced by Graham King.
With ‘Michael’ still playing in theaters, all eyes are now on whether the King of Pop-centered film can cross the coveted $1 billion mark globally.
Should it do so, it would become only the second film of 2026 to hit the benchmark (after ‘Super Mario Galaxy’).
