Full story below…

In his cover story, Gunna revealed that his legal battles ultimately became the motivation for his commitment to fitness. After being named in the YSL RICO indictment in 2022, the rapper accepted a plea deal, which led to his release.

Before his incarceration, Gunna was often recognized for his heavier build. However, when he was released from jail, a transformation was noticed. The rapper credits running as the foundation of his fitness journey, explaining that it helped him develop discipline. Growing up, Gunna says fitness wasn’t something that was promoted in the black community, and now he’s determined to help change that narrative.

Gunna shared:

“We were not taught fitness like that.”

His passion for running has since evolved into the WUNNA Run 5K initiative, which began in New York City and has expanded to Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and even internationally with a race in London.

“Can’t do one or the other. Fitness and music go together for me,”

“Working out helps me as a performer with my breathing, my stamina. I can move more, engage more, and give my full energy.”

The rapper is stepping into a new era and taking on the fitness world one “WUN” at a time.
