On October 13, Beyoncé and Kelly returned to Houston for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. As That Grape Juice previously reported, the longtime friends joined family and community leaders to unveil the Knowles-Rowland House.
Among those present were Tina Knowles, Blue Ivy Carter, and Rumi Carter. Together, they celebrated a new chapter for a location closely tied to the singers’ history.
The site previously housed the Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth. Established in 1999, the original center was funded by Destiny’s Child’s early musical success.
However, after suffering damage from Hurricane Harvey and a subsequent fire, the property needed a new beginning.
Today, it has been transformed into a 31-unit permanent supportive housing development for people who have experienced chronic homelessness.
Beyond providing homes, the project also offers essential support. Through Bread of Life, residents can access counseling, mental health assistance, and other services.
Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland Celebrate Houston Homecoming
For Beyoncé and Ms. Rowland, the occasion carries a deeply personal connection. After all, Houston is where they grew up and began their journey to global superstardom.
Now, their names are attached to a project designed to give back to the very community that helped shape them.
Sharing the new photos, Kelly reflected on the emotional milestone. She also thanked Pastor Rudy and Juanita Rasmus for their vision and dedication.
“This feeling is one of one, so many emotions, an infinite amount of gratitude to ALL who made this happen!
A SPECIAL THANK YOU to Pastor Rudy & Juanita Rasmus for having this Vision! And trusting EVERY step to see it through! I love you more than you know!
What a LEGACY!
I LOVE YOU AND IT AIN’T NUTHIN YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!
I’m still pinching myself that this happened..”
Indeed, the pictures capture the joy of the occasion. Yet, they also spotlight what the development represents.
Nearly three decades after the original center was established, Beyoncé and Kelly’s Houston legacy continues to grow. This time, it’s helping provide homes and support for those who need them most.
