R&B star Alicia Keys headlined the NBA All-Stars Half-Time Show a few hours ago. Keys, 29, performed a medley of her hits including ‘Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart’, ‘Empire State of Mind’, and ‘No One’. See how Ms. Keys fared above.
Though not bad per se, Alicia certainly has had better live outings than this. Out of breath and recycling a medley/performance we’ve seen many a time, Ms. Keys could have done a lot better. Oh well…

ugh she almost sounds as bad as mariah does now a day, alicia has never been a great singer but this is the pits, i feel bad for her if she wants to do put it in a love song live with beyonce

Definitely not one of AK’s best performances, but she was the only one of the three who sang live. My basic guess is that she was sick, plus a combination of prepping for her tour which is starting in 2 weeks.
I do wish she had performed more stuff from Element of Freedom though.
She is always pitchy and barely on key. No One was awful. She tried to distract people with the arm waving and dancing/moving away from the piano but that was just a terrible performance.
her voice sounded forced and she needs to stop dancing and stick to playing the piano. the outfit was also a mess!

a-keys didn’t perform so well, but NOBODY has a good performance every single time. i’m sure she’ll kill it next time.

Unfortunately Alicia never sounds good even though she has sounded better than lastnite still never a good singer more of an emotional singer. Always pitchy even on her records. Love Alicia but her singing has never really been good.
All those performances were wack as hell. Usher was tired by the time he got to Yeah. Wher was Chris Brown when they need him. Alicia sounded a mess, couldn’t sing a note to save her life. Who should of been replace with the native of Texas Letoya Luckett who can sing rings around her ass. And Shakira just was out of place all around thay all get an F=Fail now next time get some real performers cause that s*** was lame period.
An Epic Fail. Please Get Letoya to perform next time their asses host anything that big in Texas a straight disaster they all were. A major disappointment.
I think this was worse than usual although I agree with others who said that Alicia has never been a very strong vocalist. Her voice was more pleasant back when she had more of a youthful tone but since that has gone away the lack of stregnth stands out and she has to strain during her performances.

she cracked really bad, but made a good recovery after. Her songs are not easy to sing live b/c she sings in her “real” and not falsetto. I love her music, I just think she should bring the keys of her songs down a little so she won’t crack like that again. =]
@ 5:15, I was like EW last night…ugh..that’s embarrasing. Singing live isn’t easy for her.
SHE’S DONE AS A SINGER. BARELY 30, THAT’S SAD. WHITNEY LOST HERS CAUSE IF SELF INFLICTED DRUGS AND SMOKES BUT SHE WAS IN HER 40’S. WHAT’S ALICIA’S EXCUSE?? HER VOICE HAS BEEN DETERIORATING OVER LAST 1-1.5YRS. STICK WITH WRITING AND PRODUCING, HER STRONG POINTS.

There are some Gospel artist who can sing with such a clear tone and clarity and belt out those notes without any flubs or flaws EVER. Their gift of song is straight form Jesus. Everyone is not prone to errors during their performances. Jesus is their rock and their foundation. Never a dull performance or errors when Jesus is their vessel.
Not Alicia’s best but I think her voice needs a major rest. I did not expect her album to come out so soon. She just finished touring a year ago and now she’s about to take on another long trek. I saw her in concert twice in ’08 and her vocals were amazing both times. Hopefully she takes these next couple weeks to rest, so that her voice is restored by the time the tour starts. I have front row seats to see her next month. Can’t wait!

She did great!!!!!!! She was the only one to sing live and she had to make the performance upbeat, it was a basketball game not just a regular concert. I like how she changed the words of Empire State of Mind to fit the occasion. Love the outfit!!!!!!!!!

I am so tired of people making excuses for singers, who sing off key and are pitch 95% of the time. Their job is to sing, not dance, not play the piano but sing. Everything else is for extra entertainment value.

iI think alicia sounded awesome. might not have been one of her best but still pretty good. And she sung live. It seemed as if ishe couldnt hear herslf at first as she kept feeling 4 her ear piece. She’s AWESOME and Jamaica loves u A. Keys. I definitely enjoyed it. Stay SOULFUL as you are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
