Could jealousy have been to blame for Kendrick Lamar’s controversial ‘Control‘ verse?
If a question posed by Hip Hop tastemaker Elliott Wilson to Rapper Drake is anything to go by, it may just have been.
For, during their taped conversation launched to promote the MC’s brand new album ‘Nothing Was The Same’, the scorching verse and the response that followed it was brought up- seeing Wilson hint Lamar’s long running desire to match or surpass Drake’s achievements as the fuel for his lyrical fire.
While the entire interview makes for a great watch, hit the 19 minute mark for Kendrick quotes below!

Meow!
Did he lie?
Drizzy spilling that truth tea.
If the song had been released as a single people would remember the lyrics. Drake obviously feels some kind of way about that verse even thou he is not willing to admit it, too bad it came out after he had finished recording his album otherwise he would have definitely sad something to show his saltiness on his album.
Drake told no lies.
I have to admit Drake has a point. I like Kendrick but after a while he is boring to me! He really hasn’t had but 2 strong hits and the song where he “shock the table under these rappers” wasnt even a released song! It was a unreleased track which no one brought! Drake is a triple threat. He can write, rap and act. Kendrick’s style is hot but its not going to be a threat to Drake’s image! Hate him or not Drake will always have something to fall back on!
Drake is such a queenny bottom. I can’t with this homo.
cute shade Drake…
Oh u mad drizzy? No one is listening to it yet youre dtill speaking on it. He’s salty as hell. This is the 2nd time he’s commented on it but wants to act like it doesn’t affect him. Grow a d*** and get over it.
Drake is just a sensitive, overrated b****. Kendrick would murder his ass in a battle
Drake is such a girl. Get that first week press Queen! He’s the only rapper that dude named that feel some type of way. If Big Sean is cool with if, when everyone should cause it was on HIS song. Funny, I don’t hear Drake rep Young Money as of late. Hummm??????
Drake has his own crew now–OVO. He’s still cool with Young Money, but he is doing his own thing.
Kendrick was calling for lyrical competition, drake wants album sale competition. which is not hip hop, glee outsold you dumm bass
“Men lie, Women lie, Numbers don’t”. So miss me with that so called “Lyrical Competition”.
Kendrick wants the top spot just like everybody else and maybe more than anybody when you listen to his verse.
I agree with Drake, that verse was a moment, a buzz that lost steam when he was performing on Robin Thicke’s song while Miley was gyrating around. Kendrick wants that mainstream spot so bad that he’s started selling himself short for getting in the news.
It will always come down to the songs. When Kanye started he said he wanted to sing about God and the Bible but nobody would listen to it on a sh*tty a$$ beat. If Kendrick wants to murk anything, he needs to murk his own tracks and finally get what he is looking so bad for. Leave the competition alone and focus on your own thing, K-Dot.
That verse is so overrated kendrick could say I got white seats in my lambo and its bleeding blood and everyone would go mad lawd
Someone please pass these two queens a box of tampons to stop the bleeding. They stay salty, always bitching, moaning, whining, crying or all the above over the dumbest of issues.
Maybe they should squash the beef over a blunt and The Color Purple on Netflix.
