I hope they dont cheat her with these movie roles!!

She is a Yale Theater Graduate, and is very versatile…. I just hope HollyWEIRD doesnt try to fit her into a box.

I can’t be the only one nervously side-eyeing this announcement.

First she’s a s****, now she gets a role in the ‘Jungle Book’ adaptation?

Hollywood will put you on a pedestal as a black actor/actress, but they’ll never give you recognition for a film where you’re not a maid, a s****, or an African with headdress, beads, and hooting and dancing.

I respect her so much and I hope they treat her with respect.

      Essentially what I was saying!!!!

      It can become sooo cliche…

      • Tisha April 27, 2014

        Amen.

They throw us a bone with giving our excellent actors/actresses recognition but it’s only when you’re acting in an ‘approved’ role.

Octavia Spencer been acting in movies for years but had to be ‘The Help’ for white people to sit up and notice.

Exactly!!!!!! They need to STOP trying to give her all these jungle bunny roles and let her expand her talent!! Next thing you know she’ll have a lead role in the next Planet of the Apes and all hell will break loose!

I had the same first reaction, that blacks are still looked at as primates who belong in the jungle or on some widespread plain. Lupita and Idris are playing into a stereotype that they really don’t have to. There will be bigger and better offers.

How can they market her? She is not a s** symbol for white leading men in the way Halle or Zoe can be.

She is no Cate blanchett in terms of range; she cannot be America’s sweetheart or do comedy. AND, unlike HALLE OR ZOE, OR EVEN THANDIE, WE have NEVER SEEN HER Play anything but a crying s****. ALL the fashion and lance comes from guilt and pity for her being dark and hated it when younger.

Halle Berry had the career she has, cos she is beautiful and s** foR WHITE AND BLack men, PLUS she has proven she can do comedy, romantic , pain and drama. Halle has range.

Zoe Saldana can also do Comedy ( guess who ) S*** and action ( Columbiana ) and drama . Plus as latina with long hair. there is more appeal for her.

    Same with Thandie newton too.

And thats the whole problem with Hollywood. People have been brainwashed by the ideals of beauty set up by the white man. Don’t you think those are the barriers black people been tryna break for years and then you habe dumb h*** like you who state the obvious.

  4. Naomi April 27, 2014

Oh please. Im sorry but I can’t be happy for these kinds of roles until I see some versatility.

  5. Navy Commander April 27, 2014

Not here for It why the black people always gotta play the s**** or the help or the dumb h**

  6. Rosie April 27, 2014

She is gorgeous but I want her to have better roles. Too bad Hollywood is controlled by old, creepy white men.
At least she has Lancôme and Miu Miu deals.

I knew it. They were gonna build her up then pigeon-hole her. Jungle Book, really? Smh, I hope her career doesn’t go down the Halle Berry route. The exact same adulation by the mainstream media, fashion critics, awarding bodies and talk about how she’s breaking down boundaries for Black actresses that Miss Nyong’o is going through right now is very reminiscent of what happened to Halle when she won her Oscar for Best Actress back in 2002. However, look at what happened to her afterwards. She failed to garner any decent roles that lived up to her performance in Monster’s Ball and cracked under pressure. Sure, she wasn’t necessarily typecasted because she got a quite a range of roles from Rom-Coms to Action flicks but how the f**k do you go from winning an Academy Award to playing Catwoman??? Long story short, I hope Lupita continues to go against the grain in Hollywood and fight for roles that show off her versatility as an actress.

If that’s not possible, you can take a section of
your hair and wrap it around the band to hide it and tuck
it under to hold the hair in place. If you have seen the movie ‘Curly Sue’, the little
girl’s hair is very long and curly, but what many parents need to
understand is that it can get tangled, knotted up, and very dirty.
This article is all about short hairstyles
    for men with thick hair.
